Find a Mentor Who Inspires You to Succeed

Definition of ‘Mentor’

If you google the word ‘mentor’ the definition is: “an experienced and trusted adviser.” To me a mentor is someone I respect and admire. They may have a lifestyle, a business, a way of viewing life, a happy and satisfying life, a degree of success you would like to have or anything you admire and would like to have/experience in your life.

A mentor can be anyone in the world who is now living or has lived in the past. They may have qualities you appreciate and would like to emulate. Some examples could include: a teacher, a coach, a personal trainer, a business owner, an entrepreneur, a personal development speaker, a friend, a parent, etc.

Depending on where you are at in life and where you would like to go, there is someone who has been where you have been and has achieved great success by overcoming various hurdles in their life. And if they can accomplish what they did, so can you!

How to Embrace Change +
How I Learned to Let Go of the Past

“But you haven’t heard about my childhood. I faced brutal bullying and I’m not good enough to succeed at my goals.” This was my story for not even trying at anything in life. I was mediocre at best most of my life and I didn’t care. I constantly made excuses for myself and battled depression most of my life.

One day I started accepting responsibility for my attitudes and started reading books on how I could let go of blame. I started learning from various personal development mentors such as Brian Tracy, Hale Dwoskin, and Rhonda Byrne.

As I continued to learn to improve my attitude toward everything in my life, everything in my life began to change. It wasn’t always easy to change, yet I knew I was fed up with the way I had been living my life up to that point, so I continued to read in the personal development category, listen to positive audiobooks and watch inspiring videos related to success.

Find a Mentor

I will always respect and admire people I view as mentors and as I have changed over the years, so have my mentors. I now have a select few business type mentors I follow online that regularly share inspiring videos and blog content that resonate with me. One person I personally view as a business mentor is Marie Forleo. You may wish to check out her website and videos for yourself.

Have you found someone who is now where you wish to someday be? You can view them as one of your mentors. As you get inspired by them and take appropriate action in your life, you will see positive results. Some day down the road you may find yourself having achieved the success that you now desire. At that time you may decide to find some new mentors who encourage you to continue to step out of your comfort zone and grow to new heights you never before thought possible.

You can have a happy, satisfying and successful life. I now know it is possible. If you don’t already have one, I encourage you to find a mentor that encourages you and inspires you to succeed at reaching your goals in life and business.

3 Habits That Will Improve Your Life

In my experience I have found that (1) regularly viewing inspiring videos, (2) listening to personal development audiobooks, and (3) reading positive books help inspire me to succeed in my business and life. Making time to practice these three habits regularly have consistently helped me improve my life and business.

If you want to step it up you might try attending a seminar/event that can help you better reach your potential such as The Abundant Living Retreat held yearly in Palm Springs. This event has positively changed both my life and my wife’s and our business has grown significantly since first attending the retreat.

What positive results have you seen in your life from practicing the 3 suggestions? Please share your thoughts below and/or click one of the share buttons if you liked this article. Thanks for reading.

I came upon this through the Facebook challenge and I had no idea just how much I needed it. I am totally going to do sooooo many of those things all the time! Thanks for this! 🙂

  4. I have had several mentors and have found their wisdom and support invaluable. It’s important to recognise the difference between a mentor and a coach and I’ve found both helpful at different times, and sometimes even the same time!
