The Teachability Index – Start Here First!
The Teachability Index
All human beings have amazing potential. We have unlimited possibilities.
Learning any new skill fundamentally hinges on something known in personal development circles as the ‘Teachability Index.’
What is the Teachability Index?
It is the multiplying of 2 states:
1. A willingness/desire to learn
2. A willingness/desire to accept change
How to determine your teachability (0-100)
Fill in the blanks after the following questions:
On a scale of 1-10 what is your willingness/desire to learn? _____
On a scale of 1-10 what is your willingness/desire to change? _____
Now multiply the two numbers to find out your teachability.
You could have a ten in willingness to learn and a zero willingness to accept change and your teachability would be zero. In that case you would want to go work on becoming more willing to accept change before attempting to learn anything new, since it will be futile until you increase your willingness to accept change.
Before striving to learn a new concept, it is good to score at least 60-70 on the teach ability index. And it would be even better to have a score of 80-100 to really be able to learn and apply what you have learned in your life with success.
Ultimately you are the judge of your own teachability and it can go up and down many times a day. Just becoming more aware of it is a good start in becoming more teachable. The only way to true success in life is ultimately by becoming more teachable and only you can work on the yourself.
I’m rooting for you. You can do it. Keep learning and growing as a person. Check in with yourself each day by asking “where is my teachability right now?” You may be pleasantly surprised with the results of this simple exercise.
Loved the little quiz.
Cool, thanks!
